These do not further the aims of a UK campaign, because the laws and other socialogical factors are completely different.

A strange appeal from the wife of a Texas police Officer:

Appeal from mstavin, "HPD Pension Doesn't Follow Texas Law":
I just divorced an Houston Police Officer. He is fully vested in the DROP retirement plan. The Houston Pension Board does not follow Texas Community Property Laws. I am appealing the disproportionate award of this retirement account, not only for myself but for every spouse of City of Houston police and fire dept. employees. What should be a $500,000/$500,000 split was awarded as $150,000/$850,000. The pension board favors police officers over their spouses. I am looking for funding to help fight the Houston pension board. I have a sizable amount of donors, but more donations are needed to finish funding the appeal. I really need your help or suggestions a/s/a/p!

Neither do I follow Texas Law. -Did I mention this is a UK Civ Lib Group?!
No return address given. If you want help, please include contact details.

Notes from Minnesota

Appeal from smokified, "Out of control":
I live in a large suburb of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. Over the last 5 years I've noticed that the law enforcement in this county has gone way out of control. They try and make everyone a criminal. They throw people in jail for the stupidest and most worthless reasons. Then they wonder why the jails are full. They are all also guilty of major age discrimination. If you are under 30 and your not driving a grandma car, expect to get pulled over when you drive. They also think they have the right to just pull you over and search your vehicle because they "think" there might be something in there. Then if you do get charged and go to court... you're screwed. There is no way your going to win even if you are not guilty. You are guilty unless proven innocent. The cops and judges are all "friends". The cops show up in court whenever they feel like it. They talk and joke around with the judge. They sit there and talk **** about the people they have arrested. One person cannot stop this alone, and most people are too afraid to even say anything.

Reply:
This sort of problem occurs around the world in small towns or communities. It is most common amongst local newspapers and the police, from whom they get most of their income and don't want to upset. You can try the regional Press, or your local MP (US equivalent probably Mayor or Senator).
There may be supportive groups in your local area.
This forum is primarily concerned with UK issues, though we will try to help further afield by finding groups in your area.

Praise

Urban75

"Good luck with your Campaign against the police."

Pubs

"It's really cool thing you're doing."
From a contributor who then disappeared along with three of his friends. Efforts to track them down continue, but are hampered by the Wilts police removing information which should be in the public domain.

I help out with the Vegan Prisoner Support Group and love this website. The list of prisons has saved me much time, thanks to all involved.
NB: HMP Pentonville has changed number to 02070237000.

What is that **** you write about the thedorsetpolice.com, since when did Koenig post under false ID's and make fake sites? (Abuse.)
Not that it matters now as he has closed them down, (more abuse).

The review is fairer than any other independent reviews of your site.
The other sites formerly linked to from thedorsetpolice.com are registered to you, full of your comments, and contain files like "koenig.htm".
Not all replies are from you, just most of them. Some on the Weyboard were from other people, but none of these agree with your accusations.
I stand by my findings.

I and members of our group would be very grateful if you could add a link to our site, Parents 4 Protest Wales/Cymru. [Ed: Done.]
(Cf. the above link for details, goes on about badly mishandled custody battles in the Family Courts, involving corrupt legal officials and offices, and the way children are disadvantaged by this.)
Children who grow up without their fathers have been shown to be much more likely to suffer... The direct costs to the nation... have been estimated at £15billion a year.
As a group we believe awareness is the key to change in our family courts and our members many of whom are disabled would be very grateful if we could have your support in accepting our request. We will obviously return the good gesture by offering a reciprocal link.
Thanks

Quote from Sir Paul Condon (nice to know he's earning his "K") erstwhile head of the Metropolitan Police: "Some 250 of my officers are corrupt" (only 250, Sir Paul), and "Some of my best officers are corrupt". Still experimenting with irony, Sir Paul? Sounds like Britain's got the finest police force money can buy. UK: Hate it and leave it. Seek your fortune in the colonies: Look up "Shanghai, English teaching" on the web. At least with a military dictatorship it's safe to walk the streets.

Have you considered the possibility that the photographed police cars on the front page had been parked there during an emergency? Which is perfectly lawful, by the way.

What would you say if you'd called the police because you'd caught an armed robber in your house and they took half an hour because there were no parking spaces nearby other than the double-yellows?

Well this was a waste of 5 minutes of my life. The site owner seems to be an anarchist - lets hope he's not a victim of crime because he may feel the need to become a hypocrite and actually have the police assist him.

It's a strange job that I do where I have got to help EVERYONE in society regardless of their opinion of the Police force, and as above, I hope you are never in such a serious time of need that you require the help of myself and my colleagues all over the nation. Maybe you need to look into the job a bit more-try to get a better understanding of what we do.

I think you'll find that the police are exempt from all double yellow lines at all times. Look at the Traffic Regulation Order for the street where the lines are and you'll find the exemption.

"The police are the public and the public are the police. The police are only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence."

That is one of Sir Robert Peel's nine points of policing, and it's true. If the morality of the general public declines (as it clearly has done) then the morality of the police will decline also.

Nobody has ever tried to deny that corruption exists within the police in the United Kingdom, as it does in every country in the world (and, in most, to a far greater degree). Corruption by a minority has been openly acknowledged by successive chief constables. They have not conspired to cover it up.

When questioned about this in 1997, the Commissioner of the Met stated:

"I actually believe that we have the most honest big city police service anywhere in the world and that is the view which has been reinforced by diplomats who live and work in London. I am very proud of the majority of my men and women who serve in the Met. I would hope and believe it [corruption] is contained somewhere between 100 officers and 250 officers."

The Met Anti-Corruption group currently estimates there are around a hundred corrupt officers working in their force.

If you are still dissatisfied, take a visit to any developing country and experience road-blocks where the police extort money out drivers under threats of arrest or (in some countries, particularly Brazil) death.

I am presently able to demonstrate corruption within the legal system, from Police, Court, Clerks, Solicitors who prepare bar reports at Ayr Sheriff Court.

I have tapes recorded by me. PROOF! Also seven witnesses who were approached by both police and Solicitors offering monies or other inducement not to give evidence at child welfare hearings. [Name Removed], Solicitor, has over many years manufactured evidence/statements. I have now discovered other parents who have suffered the same abuse by her. Her reports are her downfall: She makes the same false comments over and over again. Also I have a recording of my meeting. What do I do with my damming evidence? I have witnessed co-operation between all legal and law agencies. Social work, Senior staff, sheriff clerks, solicitors in Ayr, police. All these agencies at present are attacking me, because they know I have tried to expose their corruption.

Okay; replies were delayed by longer than anyone anticipated. We have some new office space now, so things will run smoother in future. That said, last time we had space they ran less smooth and more chaotic. But now they can get up and run instead of sitting around.

It is pointless to spam these forums; we use the rel=nofollow block.

Gilmour: Present your evidence CONCISELY on posters, without making any sweeping conclusions or naming people, which can get you sued.
Present extracts from your evidence and let people make up their own minds.
Get a friend to read through your drafts, and help you stick the posters on lampposts etc around town. Tell the local papers about this indirectly; get a rumour going. Local papers don't like being reminded the police commit crime, because they get most of their stories from them. Don't worry if they denounce you, because any news is good news.

WED~1/3/2006 Comment: There are so many idiot mistakes on so many levels with this comment, that it's difficult to know where to begin.
There is no excuse for the police committing crime. They are supposed to combat crime. Now, go away and think of something constructive to write, bearing these two points in mind.
